Neymar Signs Two-Year Deal with Al Hilal

Neymar has officially joined Al Hilal of the Saudi Professional League, the club announced on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. The transfer fee is reportedly €90 million (£79.2 million), which would be a record for the league. Neymar has signed a two-year contract with Al Hilal, reportedly worth €30 million (£25.7 million) per year.

The move comes after Neymar's contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired at the end of last season. He had been linked with a move to a number of clubs, including Chelsea and Barcelona, but Al Hilal were able to offer him the most lucrative deal.

Neymar is the latest in a long line of big-name players to move to Saudi Arabia in recent years. In 2021, Al Nassr signed Carlos Vela and André Carrillo, and in 2022, Al Ittihad signed Diego Costa. The Saudi Professional League is now one of the richest leagues in the world, and it is attracting some of the best players in the world.

Neymar is a world-class player who has won numerous trophies at club and international level. He will be a major coup for Al Hilal, and he will be expected to help them win the Asian Champions League.

Here are some of the reactions to Neymar's move to Al Hilal:

  • "This is a huge signing for Al Hilal. Neymar is one of the best players in the world, and he will bring a lot of attention to the league." - Tariq Panja, ESPN
  • "This is a sign of the growing financial power of the Saudi Professional League. They are now able to attract the best players in the world." - David Ornstein, The Athletic
  • "Neymar is a great signing for Al Hilal, but it is also a risk. He has been injured a lot in recent years, and he will need to stay fit if he wants to be successful in Saudi Arabia." - Frank Khalid, Arab News

Only time will tell how Neymar's move to Al Hilal will pan out. However, there is no doubt that it is a major coup for the club, and it will be interesting to see how he performs in the Saudi Professional League.
